Gestalten Boatlife

Boatlife is a nomadic life on the water, constantly discovering new landscapes and cultures and the freedom to sail wherever the wind blows. From the Baltic Sea to the South Seas, from the Arctic to the Antarctic, every sea area has its own charm and moments to experience and adventures to conquer.

The book tells around thirty stories about boatlifters, from solo travellers to sailing families. Photos, texts and illustrated maps are used to describe what life on the water feels like. More and more people no longer want or need to live and work at home and are happy to swap their city flat for the functional cosiness of a ship's cabin. Whether it's a sailing trip on the Baltic Sea or an Atlantic crossing, the desire for the next voyage grows with every trip - and the pity for landlubbers.

ABOUT THE CO-EDITOR
Katharina Charpian works as a freelance journalist and author for well-known outdoor, travel, interior and lifestyle magazines. The Hamburg native has been living on a 10-metre boat herself since 2022 and sails around the world with her boyfriend and her terrier. Her sailing adventure to the Arctic is part of Boatlife ("From midwinter to midsummer to the North Cape", page 180).
